      表觀遺傳學是研究基因表達中可遺傳的表型變化,包括修飾DNA,RNA和蛋白質,但不涉及核苷酸序列的改變。翻譯后修飾(PTM)是研究蛋白質表觀遺傳學的最重要方法。PTM是標記,為細胞提供廣泛的調節機制,以指示哪些基因可以關閉和打開。許多類型和家族的蛋白質都受到PTM的影響,但得到最多修飾的蛋白質之一是組蛋白家族。

      關于組蛋白修飾

      組蛋白甲基化是通過添加甲基來修飾組蛋白中的某些氨基酸,繼而抑制或激活轉錄。組蛋白甲基轉移酶(HMT)通過染色質依賴性轉錄抑制或激活來控制或調節DNA甲基化。組蛋白的甲基化和去甲基化在DNA中打開和關閉基因。
