      神經元——神經系統的基本結構和機能單位。主要部分包括樹突、胞體、軸突、細胞膜。樹突形狀似分叉眾多的樹枝,上面散布許多枝狀突起,因此有可能接受來自許多其他細胞的輸入。胞體內有細胞核,而且絕大多數維持細胞生命的細胞器都在其中。軸突為細胞的輸出端,從胞體延伸出來,一般很長。許多軸突由髓鞘包裹,其作用是與其他細胞的信息流絕緣。

      谷氨酸能神經元(Glutamatergic neurons)

      谷氨酸能神經元是中樞神經系統內最為重要的興奮性神經元。當神經元中谷氨酸被囊泡谷氨酸轉運體(vesicular glutamate transporters,VGLUTs)轉運進入突觸囊泡(synaptic vesicle),突觸囊泡再與突觸前膜融合后,谷氨酸才能被釋放到突觸間隙中并作為神經遞質發揮作用,才可以確定該神經元是谷氨酸能的。

      5-羥色胺能神經元(Serotonergic neurons)

      5-羥色胺最早是從血清中發現的,又名血清素,廣泛存在于哺乳動物組織中,特別在大腦皮層質及神經突觸內含量很高,它也是一種抑制性神經遞質。在外周組織,5-羥色胺是一種強血管收縮劑和平滑肌收縮刺激劑。在體內,5-羥色胺可以經單胺氧化酶催化成5-羥色醛以及5-羥吲哚乙酸而隨尿液排出體外。

      神經膠質細胞

      也稱神經膠質,是廣泛分布于中樞神經系統內的,除了神經元以外的所有細胞,在中樞神經系統中數量大約是神經元的十倍。具有支持、滋養神經元的作用,也有吸收和調節某些活性物質的功能。

      神經膠質細胞分類:

      • 星形膠質細胞
      • 小膠質細胞
      • 少突膠質細胞

      星形膠質細胞(Astrocyte)

      最大的神經膠質細胞,胞體直徑3-5微米,核呈圓球形常位于中央,淡染。它有許多長突起,其中一個或幾個伸向鄰近的毛細血管,突起的末端膨大形成血管足突,圍繞血管的內皮基膜形成一層膠質膜。星形細胞又分為原漿型和纖維型兩種。

      小膠質細胞(Microglia)

      體小致密呈長形。核中染色質甚濃,核隨細胞體的長軸亦呈長形。小膠質細胞的數量雖不多,但在灰、白質中都有,有些吞噬的小膠質細胞顯然來自血細胞的生成中的單核細胞干細胞,而不是神經起源的,在受傷后出現許多侵入的噬食細胞。

      少突膠質細胞(Oligodendrocyte)

      比星形細胞小,直徑1-3微米,突起也比其他膠質細胞少而短,無血管足,胞漿中不生成纖維,但較星形細胞有更多的線粒體。中樞神經組織的髓鞘是由少突細胞突起形成的,因此,其功能與外周神經的許旺氏細胞相同。少突膠質細胞的主要功能是在中樞神經系統中包繞軸突、形成絕緣的髓鞘結構、協助生物電信號的跳躍式高效傳遞并維持和保護神經元的正常功能。
